Description
The Controller is a member of the Customer Accounting Team whose mission-critical tasks are to:
Ensure customers receive timely communication about financial statements and business insights.
Ensure financial reporting is delivered on time.
Ensure customer work is managed and performed timely.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting.
5+ years of experience in corporate or public accounting.
QuickBooks ProAdvisor or Xero Certified Advisor, highly preferred.
Authorization to work in the U.S.

Duties
General
Execute on general administrative duties (e.g. training, presentation, app champion), as needed.
Participate in team meetings and activities.
Customer Management
Develop a trusted advisor relationship with customers.
Manage customer expectations by keeping customers informed of work status for ad hoc projects, month-end close, payroll, sales invoice, and bill payment.
Present financial information to customers on video conference calls.
Ensure customer satisfaction by adhering and monitoring compliance to the 24-hour response policy.
Proactively engage the customer to understand their business goals, challenges, and needs.
Proactively seek opportunities to expand the scope of Basis accounting work by making recommendations for process improvements and app implementations.
Accounting Team Management
Manage and prioritize work for the accounting team including month-end close, daily coding, payroll, sales invoicing, bill payment, and ad hoc projects to ensure work is executed timely, effectively, and to standard.
Manage time budgets to maintain customer job profitability and provide timely analysis, as needed, on customer jobs.
Provide technical accounting and procedural guidance to the customer accounting team.
Act as liaison for communications between the customer and the customer accounting team to ensure cohesive communication to the customer.
Assess the performance of the customer accounting team to provide feedback and guidance.
Communicate and deploy changes in procedures.
Ensure changes in customer procedures are documented, communicated, and executive upon.
Review the work of the accounting team.
Financial Management
Use understanding of the customer’s business goals and challenges and interpret financial data to craft a financial story for the customer.
Proactively communicate actionable business insights to the customer.
Understand the general business environment and assess the impact on the customer’s financial statement and business.
Understanding general business compliance requirements and assess the impact on the customer’s financial statement and business.
Take ownership of the accuracy and completeness of the accounting and financial reporting.
Provide budgeting, cash forecasting, and financial modeling if within the scope of work.
